About the course
Becoming a manager may be (for some) the ultimate goal of a career, but things are not always so clear and simple when they actually get the role.
It is often a sudden transition from top performer to manager. From “my results” to “my team’s results”. From me, to us. And most of the time, it is assumed that “things come naturally” and that change will happen overnight.
But no one talks much about all the emotions that come with it. There is talk about the joy of moving to the next level, but there is no talk about the anxiety of not knowing exactly what to do, about the fear of not being good enough, or the anger you feel when subordinates do not listen to you or worse, defy you, about the sadness of having to fire someone or even about the shame of making mistakes or not being respected. We will discuss these emotions, but also the professional aspects of the new role such as: delegation, requesting and providing feedback, motivating the team, evaluating the results.
The approaches will be from a psychological as well as a business perspective and you will go home with a set of strategies that you will be able to use in the professional environment, but also in everyday life.
